How to Apply for a Teaching Position in DPS

Below are instructions for how to apply to the following positions:  teachers (both long-term and daily substitute positions) and special service providers (nurses, psychologists, therapists, other), and both long term and daily substitute positions. 

  1. If you are a new user, you will need to register in the new system and complete your application. Please read the instructions for completing an application profile.
  2. To Log in, enter your user name and password below to review or complete your application profile. If you have forgotten your password, please click the reset password at the very top of the page. To view open positions and apply for jobs ensure your application profile is completed by reviewing the colored tabs.
  3. Submit your application for school-specific postings.  Please note, you must submit your application to each position in order to be considered for that respective position. Due to the high volume of applicants, DPS is unable to provide status of your application.

If you are selected to interview, you may be asked to provide the documents below.

  • Official transcripts of all college/university work completed with degree posted
  • List of three (3) professional references
  • Copies of licenses and/or certifications

 Applying for a bilingual (ELA-S) teaching position? Read below for instructions on completing the Spanish Language Proficiency (SLP) exam.

Teacher candidates applying for Spanish designated assignments will be required to successfully complete a Spanish language proficiency exam (SLP) administered by the Berlitz Corporation to be considered for positions.  These positions can be identified on the online posting system as ELA-S (English Language Acquisition–Spanish).  Click here for More information and test instructions 

Once you receive a passing score on the exam, select "DPS, English Language Acquisition (ELA)-Spanish Language Proficiency (SLP) Qualified" as an additional area of endorsement on your application in order for these positions to populate.


Applying for a Daily Substitute teaching position?  NOW HIRING To work as a guest (substitute) teacher in DPS, you must have a Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Teaching License, 5-Year Substitute Authorization, or 3-Year Substitute Authorization. Learn more here.

Applying for a 2012-13 teaching position in Denver Public Schools?

 

If you are hired to teach in Denver Public Schools, your first teaching experience will be as a participant in the district's annual ELA Summer Academy, June 1-29, 2012. This practicum provides nearly 4,000 students who are English language learners, entering grades 1 through 8, with morning instruction. Content is focused on academic language development through literacy across the content areas and consolidation of their mathematical concepts.

You will be partnered with an English Language Acquisition-qualified teacher as your “host” and attend professional learning to discover effective strategies that are essential for our English language learners.
