Denver Public Schools recognizes the importance of its educators and makes rewarding its employees a priority. This is seen through educator Total Rewards, a system of compensation and benefits that is unique not only to DPS, but to each and every educator. DPS has underscored its commitment to teachers by replacing the traditional salary scale with one that empowers teachers to earn more money - ProComp.

ProComp (Professional Compensation)

One of the largest components of Total Rewards is ProComp, a groundbreaking pay system designed to reward highly effective teachers. ProComp was developed through collaboration between DPS and DCTA, and links teachers' compensation directly to improved student learning. Educators are empowered with earning opportunities that range from professional growth, administrator evaluation, service in high poverty schools, and student achievement.

ProComp is structured around multiple dimensions of a teacher's work:

  • Knowledge and Skills - Earned for individual professional development or advanced degrees, and/or licensure work, and tuition and student loan reimbursement
  • Comprehensive Professional Evaluation - Earned based on a satisfactory peformance evaluation
  • Market Incentives - Rewards teachers in Hard-to-Serve schools and/or in Hard-to-Staff assignments
  • Student Growth - Pays for advances in student achievement in the areas of Student Growth Objectives, exceeding district CSAP expectations, working in a Top Performing School, and/or a High Growth School
