The Denver Public School District
Mission Statement

We will lead the nation’s cities in student achievement, high school graduation, college preparation, and college matriculation.  Our students will be well prepared for success
in life, work, civic responsibility, and higher education.

We are visionaries – on behalf of our students and our educators.

The Denver Public School District is on the forefront of the education conversation. We have recently been recognized both nationally and locally as a district that prioritizes innovative ways to drive student performance and close the achievement gap.

For example:
  • Denver Public Schools won $32 million Investing in Innovation grant from U.S. Department of Education for English Language Learner literacy programs.
  • Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation awarded Denver Public Schools $10 million to create a better way to measure and support effective teaching.
  • Denver Public Schools was awarded $8.2 million from the U.S. Department of Education for its Denver Teacher Residency program.
  • We received $880,000 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to participate in a national research study to identify a reliable set of measures of effective teaching.
